The Simplex 4098-9714 Photo Detector analog sensors provide an analog measurement digitally communicated to the host control panel using Simplex addressable communications. At the control panel, the data is analyze and an average value as a result is determine and store. Also, an alarm or other abnormal condition is determine by comparing the sensor’s present value against its average. This combines the sensitivity and maintains the accuracy of Simplex TrueAlarm sensors with a rugged, tamper-resistant enclosure.

Intelligent Data Evaluation. Monitoring each sensor’s average value provides a continuously shifting reference point. Not to mention this Simplex 4098-9714 Photo Detector software filtering process compensates for environmental factors (dust, dirt, etc.) and component aging, providing an accurate reference for evaluating new activity. With this filtering, there is a significant reduction in the probability of false or nuisance alarms cause by shifts in sensitivity, either up or down.

Each sensor base’s LED pulses to indicate communications with the panel. If the control panel determines a sensor is in alarm, or is dirty or has some other type of trouble, the details are annunciated at the control panel and that sensor base’s LED will be turned on steadily. During a system alarm, the control panel controls the LEDs such that an LED indicating a trouble will return to pulsing to help identify the alarm sensors.

In addition, some of the typical applications are:

  • Correctional/Detention facilities,
  • Mental Hospitals,
  • Industrial areas,
  • Educational facilities,
  • Dormitories,
  • And many other locations where the smoke sensor may be intentionally or accidentally subjected to abuse.
